Our visit to Mellington Hall was two days after our romantic proposal on Christmas Day. Bruce and I are not spring chickens and so couldn’t see the point in a long engagement. Bruce had the idea of us being married within a year, to be honest I didn’t think this was possible but how things can change.
We visited Mellington on a cold and frosty day and our first impression was of a beautiful building with an enormous Christmas tree from floor to ceiling in the main entrance hall. We were greeted by Kim, one of the wedding co-ordinators, who dealt with our initial enquiry and then passed our details on to Vanessa, as Kim was having a happy occasion of her own – her baby.
After looking around the Hall and being shown wedding menus we were offered several dates in September. Within an hour our wedding for Saturday 13th September 2014 was booked!!
We visited several times prior to our wedding and were always greeted in a warm and friendly manner, we knew that we had made the right choice for our wedding and that it would be a very special day.
The night before the wedding I went to deliver my dress, Vanessa was pleased to see it wasn’t the orange meringue that she had originally envisaged. She made me feel totally at ease and ran through the details of what would happen the next day. After having a drink in the bar we left, after making sure that Bruce was safely hidden in the toilet so as not to see him the night before the wedding.
On the morning of the wedding I arrived to find all the flowers, seating plan and heart decorations already in place. This was a lovely touch and made me realise how special a day it was going to be.
On the day of the wedding everything went to plan from bedrooms for guests, drinks for guests, kind and friendly staff and an overall amazing experience.
We chose Dai Roberts to provide our music on recommendation of Vanessa and he performed the songs we requested and during the evening reception played a variety of music to suit all ages. His warm and friendly manner was a pleasure to listen to and again nothing was too much trouble for him.
Our evening guests had great fun with the photo booth and enjoyed a buffet of burgers and wedges and salad.
After a truly memorable day my husband and I retired to the honeymoon suite and this was a beautiful start to our married life together.
