In January 2002 we (Vanessa and Lance) first stepped inside Mellington Hall, not knowing what the future would bring. Now, after many unforgettable years we’re sad to announce that we are leaving Mellington Hall at the end of October this year. However, we are now looking forward to a well-deserved break by the seaside, whilst planning our next challenge!
Before we go, we would love to invite you to join us and enjoy everything that makes Mellington the special place it is.
15 years at Mellington Hall
15 years ago Mellington Hall was a 19th century country house with a faded gothic façade, and the bedrooms were derelict. We started the task of refurbishing the hall, creating beautiful reception and dining areas, and 10 individual bedrooms influenced by the historic architecture surrounding us. The Hall that you see today is well known for idyllic weddings, nights away, dining experiences, special occasions and functions, homemade afternoon teas, my famous Baileys cheesecake and Lance’s Sunday lunches!
Since we arrived in 2002, Mellington Hall has gained quite the celebrity profile; featuring on the Antiques Roadshow, Escape to the Country, Four in a Bed and Four Weddings. We have had visits from the Naked Rambler and guests including Alan Carr, Lee Evans, Michael Aspel, Jayne Seymour and even the Earl of Spencer.
We have won many wedding awards, and hosting weddings is something that has been truly close to our hearts. It is safe to say we could not have fulfilled so many dreams and touched so many hearts without the help from our award winning wedding co-ordinator Kim Evans. Kim has been working with us for over 20 years (she started with us at The Lion Hotel in Berriew), but as we all know she is now a huge part of our family and our rock, we really couldn’t have done it without her.
We’ve not just built a business supported by a brilliant team of staff and local suppliers, but we have also built a home at Mellington Hall – bringing up our daughters Louise and Emma here; celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, proposals and also most recently Louise’s wedding.
… hosted over 600 weddings
… changed over 53,000 beds
… served over 100,000 Welsh breakfasts
… and so much more! But with a few months to go… we’re not quite done yet… so if you wouldn’t mind, please join us one last time.
Join us one last time
We will be officially closing on 27th October 2017 so if you would like to join us for one last relaxing break, one last delicious dining experience (a Mellington Sunday roast is not to be missed!), a special occasion or function, loving proposal or even the wedding of your dreams, now is the time. We don’t want you to miss out so please get in touch, even if it’s just to say hello – we would love to hear from you.
Thank you from Mellington Hall
On a final note, we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported, visited, stayed, dined, married and more at Mellington Hall over the years. The past 15 years have left us with incredible memories. We have met so many people – arriving as suppliers, guests, diners, brides and grooms to be – leaving Mellington Hall as cherished friends and family.
Mellington will always have a special place in all of our hearts and we hope you have shared as many memories as we have. We will miss you all, but we hope to see you again soon.
Once again, a huge thank you from us.
Lance, Vanessa and the team at Mellington Hall
